Brought To Boca On 90-Day-Visa, Woman Now In Jail. Accused Of Attempted Knife Incident…

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman who was brought to the United States from the Dominican Republic on a visa is facing a felony charge after authorities say she chased her husband through their home with a kitchen knife following an argument over money. Yohaana Rodriguez Lopez, 31, was arrested Sunday by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
According to the probable cause affidavit obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the husband told deputies that Rodriguez Lopez pulled a black-handled kitchen knife with a silver blade from a kitchen drawer and pursued him toward the front door after he refused to give her money. He told investigators he lunged backwards twice to avoid being struck as she swung the knife at him, and said he feared for his life. After he made it outside, she locked the door and prevented him from re-entering by pressing against it from inside.
A neighbor told deputies he observed the husband approach the front door and lunge backwards twice in what appeared to be a defensive posture, corroborating the husband’s account. Rodriguez Lopez, communicating through a Spanish-speaking deputy, denied being at the front door and denied any physical altercation. Investigators noted several inconsistencies in her account. The couple married in June 2023 after the husband brought her to the United States on a 90-day visa in 2020.
Rodriguez Lopez was placed in handcuffs without incident and transported for processing. She faces one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a felony, with a domestic violence designation. She was held without bond but has since been released. A court date is pending.
