BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palm Beach County homeowners association is at the center of a lawsuit filed after a community board member says he was falsely accused of corruption by a fellow resident who later became HOA president. Christopher Marshall, a licensed Florida attorney, filed the complaint in Palm Beach County Circuit Court against Allan Jacobson and the Canyon Springs Homeowners Association, Inc., alleging defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to the lawsuit, Marshall served on the Canyon Springs HOA board since December 2021 and played a lead role in a community splashpad and playground renovation project. The complaint alleges that Jacobson — who participated in every phase of that project — later accused Marshall of “hiding things,” implying he had violated his fiduciary duties as a director. Those accusations were allegedly made to fellow board members and, separately, to a community vendor named Xavier Jones of Ameriscape, Inc., in late December 2025.

The backstory reads like a Netflix neighborhood drama. After Marshall announced he did not intend to seek re-election in late 2025, Jacobson and fellow director Chad Shuck allegedly pressured him to run again. Marshall did — and won a third term on December 11, 2025. But at the organizational meeting that followed, Jacobson maneuvered to claim the HOA presidency for himself, blindsiding Marshall with corruption accusations before ultimately forcing his resignation that same night. The suit characterizes the sequence of events as a coordinated scheme to humiliate Marshall and seize control of the board.

The complaint includes three counts: defamation/slander, defamation per se, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Marshall argues that accusations of corruption strike directly at his reputation as a practicing attorney and Florida Bar member. He is seeking damages and a court injunction barring Jacobson and the HOA from making further defamatory statements. Jacobson and the HOA have not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
