Boca Raton Police Arrest, Charge With Felony.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman is facing felony charges after police say she grabbed a cell phone from a woman’shand and stomped on it during a confrontation outside a Mizner Park restaurant — a dispute that started when a child at a nearby putting green accidentally hit a golf ball that struck a young girl in the head. Nancy Johnson Simons, 69, of Boca Raton, was arrested April 20 and charged with robbery by sudden snatching and criminal mischief over $1,000.
According to a Boca Raton Police Department probable cause affidavit obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the incident unfolded around 6:22 p.m. at Villagio Italian Restaurant, 344 Plaza Real. A juvenile male accidentally hit a golf ball from the putting green at the center of Mizner Park, striking the daughter of Mina Ciano in the head. When Ciano asked the boy where his parents were, family members of the child — who had been sitting nearby at the same restaurant — stood up and a verbal argument broke out. The boy’s family then got up and began walking to their vehicle.
As the family was leaving and Ciano was on the phone with 911, police say Simons — the grandmother of the juvenile male — began yelling at Ciano, grabbed her phone from her hand, and hurled it to the ground, cracking the glass on both sides. When Ciano picked the phone back up, Simons allegedly stomped on it. Simons later admitted to officers that she grabbed the phone, threw it, and stomped on it while it was on the ground. The phone was valued at $1,600. Simons was transported to Palm Beach County Jail.
Nancy Johnson Simons was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on $5,000 bond. She lives in the 1600 block of SW 2nd Avenue.
