Rare Case Where Driver Is Arrested For Passenger’s Injuries. Boynton’s Scott Morris Jailed, Released On Bond.

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach man is facing felony charges after a reckless motorcycle crash last October left his rear passenger with permanent brain injuries, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. Scott Michael Morris, 54, of the 8000 block of Bellagio Lane, was charged with reckless driving causing serious bodily injury, reckless driving causing property damage, and driving a motorcycle without the required endorsement.
The crash happened Sunday, October 12, 2025, at approximately 6:54 p.m. at the intersection of Hypoluxo Road and Silverwood Drive in Lake Worth Beach. According to the arrest report, Morris was riding a 2022 Harley-Davidson Street Glide westbound alongside three other motorcyclists when the group ran a red left-turn arrow, accelerated through the intersection, and attempted to merge into moving traffic. Morris apparently couldn’t handle the motorcycle and got his front tire struck a raised median bullnose. He lost control. The motorcycle overturned. The entire sequence was captured on a witness’s in-car camera, which investigators say clearly shows Morris’s actions were the direct and sole cause of the crash.

The passenger on the motorcycle, a 59-year-old woman who lives with him, was wearing a helmet. Medical records reviewed by investigators showed she suffered a traumatic brain injury, traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage, and a diffuse axonal injury — a condition caused by the shearing forces of severe head trauma that produces small hemorrhages deep within the brain. According to the affidavit, medical literature confirms that diffuse axonal injury is not fully reversible, as brain cells generally cannot regenerate once damaged, leaving Liebhoff with a lifelong injury. Morris, who was not wearing a helmet and did not hold a motorcycle endorsement on his Florida driver’s license, also sustained serious injuries.
Toxicology testing later showed no impairment, despite Morris having told investigators he consumed two alcoholic drinks earlier in the day. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on April 19th and later released on $5,000 bond.
