BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County is warning residents and visitors to take the heat seriously this weekend, with “apparent “real feel” temperatures expected to hit triple digits across much of South Florida through Monday. The “real feel” or “apparent temperature” — what the heat actually feels like to the human body when humidity is factored in — can be dangerously deceptive. Even if the thermometer doesn’t read 100 degrees, your body may feel like it does. That distinction can mean the difference between a hot afternoon and a medical emergency.
Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are real risks under these conditions. County officials are urging everyone to stay hydrated, limit time outdoors during the midday hours, apply sunscreen when outside, and never leave children, vulnerable adults, or pets in a parked car — not even for a minute. Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can rise to lethal levels within minutes. If you see a person or animal left inside a car on a hot day, call 9-1-1 immediately.
The good news: Palm Beach County has no shortage of places to cool off. Libraries, pools, splash pads, waterparks, and guarded beaches are spread across the county — many of them free or low-cost. Here is the full list.

Palm Beach County’s Ocean Rescue lifeguards protect swimmers at fourteen oceanfront and inlet parks from Tequesta to Boca Raton. Guarded swimming areas operate year-round, seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. Guard availability may change without notice — always look for the condition flag before entering the water.
