BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County is offering roughly $2.3 million in emergency home repair funding to qualifying low-income homeowners, with grants of up to $75,000 available per household. The money comes through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Emergency Repairs Program, administered by the county’s Housing and Economic Development Department.

The funding, according to a statement issued to BocaNewsNow.com, is targeted to owner-occupants who are 62 or older, veterans, or have special needs, and it covers emergencies including roofing, electrical, plumbing, structural repairs, and hurricane hardening such as impact windows and doors. To qualify, the home’s appraised value cannot exceed $434,000, and household income must fall within set limits — $71,950 for a single-person household, up to $102,800 for a family of four. Mobile homes are not eligible, and properties with prior unpermitted work may also be disqualified.

Only 30 applications will be funded, and recipients will be chosen by random lottery. The online pre-application portal at pbc.gov/HED opens Monday, June 8, 2026, at 8 a.m. and closes Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The assistance is structured as a deferred loan secured by a recorded mortgage, promissory note, and declaration of restrictions, rather than an outright grant.

The county is also hosting four virtual orientation sessions ahead of the application window — May 12, May 20, May 28, and June 4 — which officials say are highly recommended but not required. Residents who need help applying or who require accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act can reach the Mortgage and Housing Investments Division at 561-233-3600 or HEDVerify@pbc.gov. Spanish and Haitian Creole language assistance is also available.
