BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — In recognition of the 40th anniversary of the historic 1986 Hands Across America event, Indivisible Boca Raton will participate in Hands Across America 2.0 — an event that originally captured the nation’s attention when millions of people joined hands across the country to support efforts combating hunger and homelessness. Forty years later, organizers say the need for collective action remains as urgent as ever.

“Hands Across America 2.0 is about bringing communities together to stand united to save our democracy, support our immigrant neighbors, and show that the will of the people still matters,” said Myra Kremenitzer, leader of Indivisible Boca Raton. “This anniversary event reminds us that when people come together for a common purpose, they can inspire extraordinary change.”

The event will take place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at 9887 Glades Road in Boca Raton — on the sidewalks across from Home Depot, outside Shadowood Plaza. The Boca Raton gathering is part of a coordinated national effort taking place simultaneously in communities throughout the country.

Participants are encouraged to join together in solidarity and recreate the spirit of unity that inspired millions of Americans in 1986. Organizers are asking attendees to bring friends, family members, neighbors, water, and their favorite sign.
