PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man driving a Nissan Altima the wrong way on Duda Road in Belle Glade was killed Thursday morning when his car slammed head-on into a truck hauling corn. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at 6:19 a.m. in the 900 block of Duda Road. The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.

A PBSO incident report provided to BocaNewsNow.com says the 2016 Nissan was headed south in the northbound lane when it struck the front of a northbound 1998 International truck. The impact was violent. The front axle of the truck was torn from its mounts and shoved back into the rear axle as the truck over-rode the smaller car. The Nissan went under, and its hood and roof peeled back. The driver was struck by the front right portion of the truck’s bumper, and a large portion of the truck’s load of corn shifted and spilled off.

The truck kept going north after the collision and came to rest facing north in the northbound lane. The Nissan was redirected to the northwest, ran off the west side of the roadway, rotated clockwise, and came to a stop facing south on the shoulder. The driver of the truck, 34-year-old Adolfo Gonzalez-Sanchez, was wearing a seatbelt and suffered only minor injuries.

The Nissan driver’s identity has not been released. Investigators say the injuries were so severe that visual identification was not possible, and next of kin have not yet been notified.
