Scott Zankl and Kristen Zankl Named In Suit. Years After Other Fraud Claims, Bankruptcy.
DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton exotic car dealership and its owners are facing a new civil lawsuit alleging they pocketed the proceeds from the sale of a customer’s Lamborghini and never paid him a dime. Dante Raynard Scott, of Barberton, Ohio, filed suit Tuesday in Palm Beach County Circuit Court against Excell Auto Group, Inc. and its principals Scott Zankl and Kristen Zankl, both of Seven Bridges in Delray Beach. The complaint seeks more than $250,000 in damages — and potentially triple that under Florida’s civil theft statute.
According to the complaint, Scott consigned his white 2017 Lamborghini Huracán Spyder to Excell Auto Group in February 2022 under a written agreement that required the dealership to sell the vehicle and promptly return the proceeds to him. The car — valued at $250,000 — was shipped from Ohio to Excell’s Boca Raton location on Clint Moore Road. Court records show the vehicle sold to a third party on or about March 11, 2022, for exactly $250,000. Scott alleges he never received any of it.
The lawsuit accuses Excell, Scott Zankl, and Kristen Zankl of civil theft, conversion, breach of contract, and unjust enrichment. Under Florida’s civil theft law, a plaintiff who prevails is entitled to treble damages — meaning the suit could expose the defendants to as much as $750,000 in damages per count, plus attorney’s fees and costs. The plaintiff’s attorneys sent pre-suit demand letters to all three defendants in March 2026, the complaint states, and the statutory 30-day window to respond passed without payment.
The case was filed by Fort Lauderdale-based O’Hara Legal. Excell Auto Group has faced prior legal scrutiny which we’ve reported on. The Zankls are named individually as defendants alongside the corporate entity. We note the Zankls were order to pay Truist Bank $467,353 last year in reference to a 43-foot-boat which was also ordered to be turned over to the bank in the midst of another legal financial controversy.
The Zankls and their automotive dealership have been in various legal battles for years. Excell Auto Group remains in bankruptcy, according to a federal docket report. We note all defendants are presumed innocent of any wrongdoing.
