DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach man is facing felony charges after police say he forced his way into a neighbor’s home and was confronted by a homeowner holding him at gunpoint until officers arrived.

Delray Beach Police say 39-year-old Bradley Stephen Wanninger showed up at a home on Coral Trace Circle East earlier this week, acting disoriented and demanding to be let inside. According to the arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, the homeowner refused, but Wanninger allegedly struck a side window with his elbow hard enough to shatter it and force his way toward the back of the house. The homeowner told police he ran for his own legally owned firearm and pointed it at Wanninger when the intruder appeared in his bedroom doorway. The homeowner’s wife, meanwhile, had locked herself in a bathroom and called 911.

Police say Wanninger laid down on the homeowner’s orders and asked him not to shoot. After several minutes, Wanninger reportedly appeared to snap out of his disoriented state, asking “Oh shit, why am I here,” before being allowed to walk outside, where a responding officer immediately took him into custody. Investigators say Ring camera footage from the front door backed up the homeowner’s account, showing Wanninger pulling on the door handle, demanding entry, then striking the window with his elbow. Wanninger was taken to Delray Medical Center for evaluation and did not give police a statement about what happened.

Wanninger was charged with unarmed occupied burglary and felony criminal mischief over $1,000 for the broken window, which the homeowner said would cost roughly $1,500 to repair. He remains held Saturday in the Palm Beach County Jail.
