DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Delray Beach is adjusting its Fourth of July plans this year, but organizers say the show will still go on. City officials announced that the fireworks barge originally scheduled for Saturday’s Independence Day celebration is not available due to circumstances beyond the city’s control. Fireworks will still light up the sky at 9 p.m., closing out a full day of family activities, live entertainment and patriotic tradition in downtown Delray Beach.
“This event has been a Delray Beach tradition for more than 50 years, and the heart of the celebration has always been bringing our community together,” said Parks and Recreation Director Sam Metott. From the opening of the city’s 1976 Bicentennial Time Capsule to the Flag Raising Ceremony, live music, family activities and fireworks, Metott said there is something for everyone to enjoy as the city celebrates America’s birthday.
The celebration kicks off in the morning at the beach, with the 4’s on the 4th Volleyball Tournament, a community sand sculpting contest and guided snorkeling tours of the historic S.S. Inchulva shipwreck.
Evening festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the opening of the time capsule, followed by the city’s traditional 60-foot Flag Raising Ceremony, live entertainment on two stages, food vendors, children’s activities and games. The fireworks display begins at 9 p.m.
Areas affected: (The streets close on July 4th from 12:00 pm – 11 pm – East Atlantic from the Intracoastal Bridge east to A1A, A1A from Thomas to Miramar.) Here’s the official City of Delray Beach information.
