Man Allegedly Chases, Pushes Woman. Tells Cops They Bite Each Other.
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Palm Springs man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he chased down, tackled, and slammed his girlfriend to the ground three separate times during a violent confrontation on Clematis Street. Both the victim, and suspect, told police they routinely bite each other — but this incident was not part of their mutual biting.
Shedrick Chad Nelson, 25, was arrested in late June and charged with three counts of domestic battery, three counts of false imprisonment and two counts of assault with intent to commit a felony, according to the West Palm Beach Police Department. Officers say dispatch received a call reporting a woman had been seen being beaten by a man on a bicycle in the 100-300 block of Clematis Street. An officer spotted Nelson matching the description and stopped him nearby. When the victim, a 19-year-old woman, approached, police say she was shaking, injured, and covered in fresh scratches and bite marks that investigators described as consistent with long-term abuse. Nelson, according to the arrest report, was sweating profusely and had a ripped shirt and a bloody thumb.
Surveillance video reviewed by investigators reportedly showed Nelson repeatedly blocking the woman’s attempts to walk away, at one point wrapping her in a headlock-style hug and forcibly kissing her before slamming her to the pavement. Police say he chased her down twice more as she tried to flee, tackling her both times and pinning her to the ground. The woman initially told officers the injuries came from “play fighting” and said she didn’t want Nelson arrested, but investigators continued the case based on the extent of her injuries. Nelson, after being read his Miranda rights, told police the couple bite each other “as a form of sexual pleasure” and that he only wanted to calm her down.
Nelson was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail where he remains held on $15,000 bond.
