POMPANO BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 67-year-old man is behind bars, charged with first degree murder after a stabbing left another man dead Tuesday night in Pompano Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office in a statement to BocaNewsNow.com.
Deputies say the Tuesday night violence started around 7 p.m. when Broward County dispatchers received reports of a stabbing near the 2500 block of East Atlantic Boulevard. BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue rushed to the scene, where crews found an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives identified David Rice, 67, as the suspect. Investigators say Rice took off after the stabbing, but deputies tracked him down a short time later and took him into custody. While the victim has not yet been positively identified, detectives believe the two men knew each other.
Rice was booked into the BSO Main Jail on one count of first degree murder. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.
