WEST PALM BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Forty years after building its very first affordable home in West Palm Beach, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County is heading back to where it all started. The nonprofit will host a free Community Impact Day on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Coleman Park from 8 a.m. to noon, part of a year-long celebration marking four decades of building homes and strengthening neighborhoods across Palm Beach County.
Volunteers, corporate partners, and faith groups are being asked to pitch in on a slate of home improvement projects for longtime Coleman Park homeowners, including landscaping, exterior painting, minor repairs, and neighborhood cleanup work. The projects are funded in part by the Quantum Foundation. “Habitat is a trusted partner expanding affordable homeownership opportunities for families, helping provide stability, safety, and a foundation for long-term well-being,” said Eric Kelly, President of Quantum Foundation. “We are honored to support and celebrate this important work, especially in the Coleman Park community, where Quantum Foundation has focused significant investment over the last several years.”
Habitat GPBC was founded in 1986 and built its first home in West Palm Beach that same year. Since then, the organization says it has built 446 new homes, revitalized or preserved another 828, and partnered with more than 1,270 families throughout the county.
“For 40 years, Habitat for Humanity has empowered families to build brighter futures through homeownership,” said Jennifer Thomason, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County. “The Community Impact Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate our legacy while engaging volunteers in meaningful work that creates lasting change and uplifts entire neighborhoods.”
The event is open to volunteers ages 14 and up, as long as a parent or guardian is registered alongside them, and no construction experience is required — Habitat staff will supply all tools, materials, and training.
