DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 79-year-old Delray Beach woman has died nearly three weeks after crashing her car into a tree in the Monterey Lakes community, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
PBSO tells BocaNewsNow.com that Marlene Balzano was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion east on Monterey Circle just after midnight on June 6 when she failed to stay in her lane while making a left turn. The car ran off the paved roadway and struck a tree, causing significant damage to the vehicle and deploying the airbags, the sheriff’s office said.
Balzano was listed as only suffering minor injuries at the scene. She was taken to Delray Medical Center by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
But on June 24, more than two weeks after the crash, Balzano died from complications related to the blunt force injuries she sustained in the collision, according to the sheriff’s office.
