UPDATE: TARGETED? WOMAN FLEES. IS CHASED.
UPDATE #3 (7:29 p.m.) — Boca PD just issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com: “Boca Raton Police are investigating an apparent targeted shooting that occurred in a parking lot near the 1400 block of NE Second Court, just north of the intersection of Glades Road and Federal Highway, around 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. When a female victim got into her vehicle in the parking lot, she was fired upon by multiple shooters, who were inside a nearby White Mercedes-Benz.
Though the victim did sustain a gunshot wound, she was able to flee in her vehicle, proceeding westbound on Glades Road. The White Mercedes briefly pursued, terminating their chase before she reached the hospital. There is no threat to the public, given that investigators believe that this individual was targeted. Investigators are actively seeking assistance from anyone who may have witnessed this incident. UPDATE #2 (3:51 p.m.): Boca PD confirms to BocaNewsNow.com that all three incidents are related: a report of a shooting behind Boca Raton Fire Rescue Station #1, a victim needing emergency transfer from Boca Raton Regional Hospital to Delray Medical Center, and Police saying the area of Glades between Federal and Dixie is closed for “police activity.” The apparent shooting investigation is focused on 1400 NE 2nd Court which is in that general area. UPDATE #1 (3:30 p.m.): BocaNewsNow.com has learned that there was a report of a shooting near a Boca Raton Fire Station a short time before Boca Raton PD issued an alert about a shooting in the city via X — but not directly to local media.
We have also learned that someone a short time ago had to be rushed from Boca Raton Regional Hospital to Delray Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the neck. We are awaiting clarification from Boca PD as to whether these are related or unrelated events. It is unclear if a search is on for a gun person. It is unclear if there is a general threat to the public.
