BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — As students across Florida head back to school this month, the Florida Lottery is urging eligible students not to miss a key deadline: the Florida Financial Aid Application, or FFAA, is due August 31 for anyone hoping to be considered for a Bright Futures Scholarship.
“Back to school season marks the beginning of new opportunities for students across our state,” Florida Lottery Secretary Reginald D. Dixon said in a statement. “The Bright Futures Scholarship Program has helped generations of Florida students turn their dreams into reality by providing critical support throughout their educational journeys. We advise every student to learn more about the program and understand the requirements they must meet to receive a Bright Futures Scholarship.”
Florida Commissioner of Education Henry Mack echoed that message, saying education “has the power to change lives and build a stronger future for Florida and the nation” by giving students the skills they need to become engaged, productive citizens. He’s encouraging every eligible student to complete the FFAA by the deadline. For more than three decades, Bright Futures — funded by the Florida Lottery — has pumped more than $51 billion into education, helping over a million students pay for college, university and career and technical training in Florida.
The scholarship program rewards academic achievement and community involvement while making higher education and career training more affordable. Students and families can check eligibility requirements at brightfuturesroadmap.com or floridabrightfutures.gov. The Florida Lottery has also released a new public service announcement laying out key eligibility requirements and the August 31 FFAA deadline, part of a broader series of English- and Spanish-language PSAs covering award options, career and technical education pathways, and scholarship requirements.
