UPDATE: SEVEN BRIDGES HOMEOWNER PREGNANT, ALLEGEDLY INTOXICATED, DRIVING WITH KIDS IN CAR

The stunning revelation comes as BocaNewsNow.com obtains the arrest report for Daniela Giraldo of Moriset Court in Delray Beach’s Seven Bridges – a G.L. Homes community. Giraldo was arrested on August 20th and jailed. She was later released.

>> On 08/20/2026, at approximately 1621 hours, BRPD Communications received a report of a white Land Rover SUV, later determined to be a 2025 white Land Rover Range Rover Sport bearing FL tag (REDACTED) which had reportedly run two red lights and struck a curb while traveling westbound on W Yamato Rd, Boca Raton, Palm Beach County. The vehicle was last observed entering southbound I-95 from W Yamato Rd.

Officer McDaniel (#930) subsequently observed the white Land Rover traveling southbound on I-95 approaching the Glades Rd exit, within Boca Raton, Palm Beach County. While following the vehicle, Officer McDaniel observed it repeatedly swerving across the lane lines on both sides. He further observed the vehicle merge from the far-right through lane into the middle through lane without signaling, causing a vehicle traveling behind it to brake abruptly to avoid a collision. Officer McDaniel then observed the Land Rover come to a complete stop in the far-right through lane of I-95 without warning. Based on these observations, Officer McDaniel initiated a traffic stop.

I arrived shortly thereafter and observed Officer McDaniel speaking with the driver, identified as Daniela Giraldo, who was standing outside of the vehicle. Upon making contact with Daniela, I immediately detected the odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage emanating from her person. I further observed her speech to be slow and slurred, her movements to be lethargic, and her balance to be impaired, as she continuously swayed while standing. Daniela’s eyes appeared glossy, and her mouth was extremely dry and displayed signs consistent with “cotton mouth,” including a heavy white accumulation of saliva around the corners of her lips and on her tongue.

Officer McDaniel alerted me that two young children were seated in the rear of the vehicle. The children were later identified as (REDACTED). I opened the rear passenger-side door to check on their welfare. While speaking with the children, I observed an empty shot-sized bottle of an alcoholic beverage on the rear passenger-side floorboard near one of the children’s backpacks. I also observed that neither child was seated in a child safety seat or booster seat.

I further observed that Daniela appeared to be pregnant. Daniela confirmed that she was approximately eight months pregnant. Due to her apparent level of impairment and pregnancy, I requested BRFD respond to evaluate her. BRFD subsequently responded and determined there were no apparent medical concerns requiring further treatment at that time.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, I requested that Daniela participate in field sobriety exercises to dispel my suspicion that she had operated a motor vehicle while impaired, to which she agreed. The FSEs were conducted as follows:

Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN)

Daniela was able to identify the stimulus. Her pupils appeared equal in size and her eyes displayed equal tracking. As Daniela attempted to follow the stimulus, her eyes continued to jerk. During the exercise, I observed Lack of Smooth Pursuit, Distinct and Sustained Nystagmus at Maximum Deviation, and Onset of Nystagmus Prior to 45 Degrees. Throughout the exercise, I repeatedly had to remind Daniela not to move her head, not to anticipate the movement of the stimulus, and to follow the stimulus using only her eyes. Daniela continuously swayed while I provided instructions and throughout the exercise. Daniela demonstrated significant difficulty understanding and following the basic instructions necessary to complete the exercise.

Walk and Turn

The exercise was conducted on a flat, hard surface. Daniela attempted the exercise while wearing shoes. I identified the line she was instructed to use and explained and demonstrated the exercise. While I provided the instructions, Daniela lost her balance and was unable to maintain the instructed starting position. During the exercise, Daniela failed to walk heel-to-toe, took an incorrect number of steps, and failed to turn as instructed. Daniela continued to demonstrate significant difficulty understanding and following the instructions despite being provided with them multiple times.

One Leg Stand

The exercise was conducted on a flat, hard surface. Daniela attempted the exercise while wearing shoes. After being instructed on how to perform the exercise, Daniela initially began walking forward, demonstrating an apparent lack of understanding of the instructions. I again explained and demonstrated the exercise. Daniela then attempted to raise her right leg. During the exercise, Daniela swayed, lost her balance, and placed her raised foot back onto the ground. Daniela failed to count as instructed and failed to keep her arms at her sides. Ultimately, Daniela was unable to properly perform or complete the exercise.

Romberg Alphabet

The exercise was conducted on a flat, hard surface while Daniela was wearing shoes. Daniela advised she knew the English alphabet and was capable of reciting it. Daniela began reciting the alphabet but stopped before completing it. When instructed to recite the alphabet through the letter “Z,” Daniela restarted from the beginning. Throughout the exercise, Daniela continued to sway.

Based on the totality of this investigation, including Daniela’s driving pattern, physical indicators of impairment, inability to follow basic instructions, and her performance during the field sobriety exercises, I reasonably determined that Daniela had operated a motor vehicle while impaired. I therefore placed Daniela under arrest and charged her with one count of DUI, in violation of FSS 316.193(1A). I handcuffed Daniela, checking the handcuffs for proper fit and double-locking them.

Additionally, I developed probable cause to charge Daniela with two counts of Child Neglect, in violation of FSS 827.03(2D). Based on the totality of these circumstances, Daniela’s decision to operate a motor vehicle while severely impaired, with two young children in her care, and while engaging in an extremely dangerous driving pattern on public roadways and I-95, I reasonably determined it constituted culpable negligence and a failure to provide the care, supervision, and protection necessary for the children’s well-being. Her conduct exposed both children to a substantial and unjustifiable risk of serious physical injury or death.

During an inventory search of the vehicle prior to it being towed, I located five (5) empty “99” brand shot-sized bottles, labeled as containing 49.5% alcohol by volume. Three bottles were located inside the center console, one was located inside Daniela’s purse on the front passenger seat, and one was the previously observed bottle located on the rear passenger-side floorboard near the children’s belongings.

I transported Daniela to the BRPD DUI room, where Officer Crawford (#683) conducted the required 20-minute observation period and operated the Intoxilyzer. I requested that Daniela provide a lawful sample of her breath to determine its alcohol content, to which she refused. I then read Daniela Florida’s Implied Consent warning and again requested that she submit to breath testing, to which she again refused.

Based on Daniela’s refusal to provide the lawful breath sample, I further developed probable cause to charge her with one count of Refusal to Submit to Testing, in violation of FSS 316.1939(1D). <<

Bond was set at $7,250. Ms. Giraldo must submit to random weekly testing. She may not consume alcohol or illegal drugs. A court date is pending. She has entered pleas of “not guilty” to charges of DUI, refusal to submit to DUI testing, and two counts of child neglect.
