DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A construction worker who allegedly suffered catastrophic brain and facial injuries on a Delray Beach job site is suing the property’s developer, contractors and site managers, claiming they let an excavator do a job it was never built for. Luis Simon Santiesteban filed a nine-count lawsuit Thursday in Palm Beach County Circuit Court against Stone Creek Ranch Homes LLC, JLN Remodeling Services Inc., Prestige Design Inc., Prestige Project Management Inc., and individuals Aldo Stark, Julien Watterlot and Luis Trujillo.

According to the complaint, Santiesteban was working at a home under construction at 16061 Quiet Vista Circle in the Stone Creek Ranch community on July 12, 2025, when Trujillo began operating an excavator to pull electrical cable. During that operation, the lawsuit alleges, the excavator, one of its components, or an object set in motion by it struck Santiesteban, causing catastrophic head, brain and facial trauma. He suffered permanent scarring, disfigurement, neurological deficits and vision and sensory impairment, according to the filing.

The lawsuit claims the trouble started a day earlier. A cable puller — a machine designed for that specific task — malfunctioned on July 11, 2025, and rather than repairing or replacing it, the defendants allegedly directed JLN and Trujillo to use an excavator instead. Santiesteban’s attorneys argue Stark, who is both a managing member of Stone Creek and president of Prestige Design, personally identified himself as the property’s “Builder” on a state-required Energy Performance Level Display Card. BocaNewsNow.com reported on complaints regarding the construction of the home.

All nine counts of the complaint allege negligence or vicarious liability against the various defendants. Santiesteban is seeking compensatory damages for medical expenses, lost earnings, pain and suffering and permanent injury, and has demanded a jury trial. He is represented by Logan W. Sandler and Scott M. Sandler of Sandler Law in Coral Gables, along with David W. Brill, Joseph J. Rinaldi Jr. and Rhonda Hartmann of Brill & Rinaldi in Weston. No defendant response has yet been filed with the court.
