BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 38-year-old Boynton Beach woman is facing DUI and resisting arrest charges after police say she ran a red light, made a U-turn, and then refused a battery of field sobriety and breath tests.
Megan Ann Martel was pulled over the evening of Aug. 29 near Quantum Town Center on Gateway Boulevard after an officer said she blew through a red light heading westbound, then made a U-turn. Backup officers who responded said Martel had glassy eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. The arrest report was just obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. Martel allegedly admitted having a drink at a friend’s house about an hour earlier but stopped answering further questions, according to the arrest report.
Officers said Martel initially refused to get out of her Mini Cooper when ordered to, only stepping out after being warned of the consequences. She then declined every field sobriety test offered — walk-and-turn, one-leg stand, finger-to-nose and Romberg alphabet — before officers removed her from the vehicle without force. A search of the car allegedly turned up an open bottle of Sutter Home wine tucked in the driver’s side door.
At the Boynton Beach Police Department, Martel was read Florida’s implied consent warning and asked twice whether she would take a breath test. She said no both times, according to the report. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of DUI, refusal to submit to a breath test, and resisting an officer without violence. Martel was booked into jail and later released on $2250 bond. She is due in court later this month.
