BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Kansas man faces 23 felony counts filed in Palm Beach County after investigators say he spent three days this summer posting a countdown on social media threatening to kill conservative commentator Ben Shapiro because of his Jewish faith. Shapiro lives in Unincorporated Boca Raton. Korby Allen Strube, 29, of Horton, Kansas, is charged with written threats to kill and using a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony, according to arrest information obtained by BocaNewsNow.com.
Investigators say Strube posted the threats on X between July 31 and August 2, 2026, from an account under the display name “Korby” and the handle @Ksqcrzk. The posts included a shrinking day-count — “52 days,” then “51” — that, worked backward from the posting dates, pointed toward the upcoming Yom Kippur holiday. One post read that he would “give the world a boost by killing ben shapiro … for being Jewish.” Another invoked Charlie Kirk’s killing and referenced threats against President Trump. Because prosecutors say religion was a motivating factor, each of the 23 counts has been bumped up a degree under Florida’s hate-crime reclassification law.
Security analysts working for Shapiro’s protective detail spotted the posts and alerted the Sheriff’s Office, which traced the account to a Gmail address and then to a Starlink internet subscription registered at Strube’s address in Horton, KS. A search warrant to Google and an emergency disclosure request to Starlink both led investigators back to the same rural Kansas property. U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Jacob Drobney, already investigating unrelated threats against the president, interviewed Strube at his parents’ home on August 4 and reported that Strube admitted to writing the posts.
According to the affidavit, Strube described feeling watched and hacked, and said Discord groups had encouraged him to “go out” as “King David,” though he denied any plan to harm the president. His parents told investigators he has no history of psychiatric treatment. He remains charged with 23 counts of written threats to kill, each reclassified under the state’s hate-crime enhancement, plus two counts of using a communications device to facilitate a felony. Strube remains held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail.
