BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Long Island Bagel and Deli at 21667 State Road 7 in Boca Raton just received 21 health code violations over two days. The health inspector logged 20 violations on September 28th, then another violation on September 29th. Of the violations, 11 were listed as “high priority.”

SEPTEMBER 28, 2026 INSPECTION
High Priority – Employee handled soiled equipment or utensils and then engaged in food preparation, handled clean equipment or utensils, or touched unwrapped single-service items without washing hands. Observed at dishwashing area- employee handle dirty dishes, then proceeded to handle clean dishes without washing their hands-educated operator-employee wash their hands properly. Corrective Action Taken
High Priority – Employee rubbed hands together for less than 10-15 seconds while washing hands. Observed at Cook line area- employee cracked raw shell eggs, then proceeded to wash their hands for approximately four seconds before handling, clean equipment and preparing food-educated operator-employee wash their hands properly, Corrected On-Site
High Priority – Employee touched face/hair and then engaged in food preparation, handled clean equipment or utensils, or touched unwrapped single-service items without washing hands. Observed at server station area – employee touched their face that proceeded to handle a clean equipment without washing their hands-educated operator- employee washed their hands properly. Observed at server station-employee grabbed creamer packet off the floor then proceeded to prepare food for order without properly, washing their hands- educated operator- employee washed their hands properly. High Priority – Raw animal food stored over/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. Observed at walk in cooler- raw shell eggs stored over cooked white fish – operator removed and stored properly. At display cooler – raw smoked salmon cream cheese stored over pasta salad – operator removed and stored properly. At front counter reach in cooler raw smoked salmon cream cheese stored over cookies- operator removed and stored properly. Corrected On-Site
High Priority – Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. At cook line area near the hand sink – approximately one live roach on the floor – operator killed, removed, and sanitized the area. Corrective Action Taken
High Priority – Server handled soiled dishes or utensils and then picked up plated food, served food, or prepared a beverage without washing hands. Observed at server station- employee handled soiled dish of creamers and butter than proceeded to handle clean utensils and prepare order without washing their hands – educated operator-employee washed their hands properly.
High Priority – Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. At front counter glass reach in cooler – butter (55F)- cold holding ; milk (46F)- cold holding; chocolate milk (48F)-cold holding- food not prepared or portioned today – food out of temperature for two hours- operator placed to quick chill. At display cooler by front counter- scallion cream cheese (46F) cold holding; macaroni salad (45F) cold holding ; egg salad (46F) cold holding ; smoked salmon (45F) cold holding; lock cream cheese (45F) cold holding; tuna (46F) cold holding; cooked fish (43F); fish salad (45F) cold holding- food not prepared or portioned today – cooler door left open as per operator- food out of temperature for 3 hours- operator placed to quick chill. At dishwashing area – bottle of hand sanitizer stored over dish machine- operator removed. At dry storage shelf by cook line – container of soap stored over container of sugar – operator removed and stored properly. Corrected On-Site
High Priority – Wiping cloth solution exceeding the maximum concentration allowed stored in a location that could result in the cross contamination of food, equipment, utensils, linens, single-service, or single-use articles. Sanitizer Bucket (Quaternary 400ppm).
Intermediate – Food being cooled by nonapproved method as evidenced by inadequate rate of cooling during time of inspection. At Glass refrigerator ; corned beef hash (46F) at 10:25 to 55F at 11:20 (cooling since 8:30) pancake batter 58F at 10:25 to 58F at 11:20 (cooling since 8:30) cut tomatoes (45F) at 10:20 to 55F at 11:20 (cooling since 8:30), sliced cheese (45-54F) at 10:25 am to 55F at 11:20( cooling since 8:30)- food covered and refrigerator door left open- at current cooling parameters food will not reach to 41F- operator placed food to quick chill. Basic – Accumulation of dead or trapped birds, insects, rodents, or other pests, in control devices. Observed-at back cook line/ prep area behind double oven on the floor – two roach traps with approximately 3 dead roaches – operator discarded. Admin Complaint
Basic – Employee personal items stored in or above a food preparation area, food, clean equipment and utensils, or single-service items. Observed purse, phone over pancake batter in kitchen area. In front area observed on top of reach cooler employee purse.
Basic – Equipment and utensils not properly air-dried – wet nesting. Observed metal pans wet nesting at dishwashing area.
Basic – In-use wet wiping cloth/towel used under cutting board.
Basic – Opened employee beverage container in a cold holding unit with food to be served to customers. Observed at glass reach in cooler-employee open bottle of water inside cooler over food used for the restaurant- operator removed. Corrected On-Site

Long Island Bagel And Deli was not ordered to close, but is now subject to an unannounced follow-up inspection.
