Palm Beach County is offering money for homeowners who need to make repairs.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County homeowners facing major repairs they can’t afford could get up to $100,000 from the county. There’s a catch: they’ll have to sit through an online orientation first, and then they’ll need some luck. The county’s Department of Housing and Economic Development is putting $4 million in State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) money into its Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program.

The money can fix code violations, or problems that are about to become code violations. It can pay for hurricane hardening like impact windows and doors, eliminate conditions that threaten a resident’s life, health or safety, connect a home to public utilities and make a house accessible. The program — according to information shared with BocaNewsNow.com — is for extremely low, very low, and low-income homeowners, capped at 80% of area median income: $71,950 for a one-person household, $82,250 for two, $92,550 for three, $102,800 for four and $111,050 for five. Larger households can get figures from county staff. Homes with unpermitted work may be ineligible.

The online application portal opens at noon Monday, Nov. 9, and closes at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at pbcgov.com/HED. After it closes, the county will pick 50 applications through a random drawing.

Every applicant must attend one virtual orientation before applying. Sessions are set for 7:30 a.m. Oct. 19, 4 p.m. Oct. 30, 3 p.m. Nov. 3, 9 a.m. Nov. 9 and noon Nov. 18. No registration is needed — join through this WebEx link or by phone at 904-900-2303, access code 2318 437 2342, password f2uH3JNEbn3.

Residents who need an ADA accommodation should call the county’s Mortgage and Housing Investments Division at 561-233-3600 or email HEDVerify@pbc.gov at least five business days before the portal opens. The county can also provide a list of agencies that may help with the online application, though those agencies may charge a fee.
