BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office just after 7 p.m. Tuesday provided a full rundown of the events that led to the shooting of an unarmed convicted felon in West Boynton Beach — near Jog Road and Woolbright. This is the official narrative:

>>Monday, October 12, 2026, at approximately 11:00 p.m: PBSO Robbery Detectives responded to a robbery to a person in the 400 block of North K Street in the City of Lake Worth Beach.

The investigation revealed that the suspect ordered a pizza using a fictitious name. When the pizza was delivered, the suspect approached the victim, identified himself as the person who placed the order, and stated that he only had a $100 bill and needed change. While the victim was counting the change, the suspect grabbed the cash and fled on foot.

The victim pursued the suspect. Following a verbal altercation, the suspect fled the scene in a black 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.

Tuesday, October 13, 2026, shortly before 11:00 a.m: PBSO’s Tactical Unit located the suspect’s vehicle in Lake Park. A PBSO helicopter assisted by maintaining visual surveillance of the vehicle as it traveled north.

Tactical Unit deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the suspect fled. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) was requested to assist as the suspect traveled south. A vehicle pursuit was initiated in the area of 6th Avenue South and Interstate 95.

The suspect exited Interstate 95 at Atlantic Avenue and continued westbound toward Jog Road. The vehicle eventually came to a stop between Grand Isle Drive and Woolbright Road.

The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. His right arm was wrapped in what appeared to be a shirt or towel. Despite repeated commands to stop and show his hands, the suspect refused to comply. Less-lethal force was deployed but had no effect.

The suspect continued running and took cover behind concrete pillars. He eventually positioned himself behind a pillar, knelt down, and assumed a firing stance. A PBSO deputy discharged a firearm, striking the suspect. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The suspect, 54 years old, has a criminal history that included carjacking, robbery, kidnapping, assault, fraud, and possession of marijuana, among other offenses.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. In accordance with standard agency protocol, the involved deputy has been placed on administrative leave.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division are actively investigating the incident.<<
