DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 22-year-old Boca Raton woman is facing two counts of battery after police say she punched, bit and swung at a group of people inside a car on East Atlantic Avenue early Sunday morning.
Jessica Ann Sumner met the group at Good Night John Boy sometime after midnight, according to her arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com. One of the men told police she seemed very intoxicated, so he offered to help. She refused and ran off. When the group got back to their car in the parking lot at 298 E. Atlantic Ave., Sumner allegedly showed up again, got argumentative and started yelling about the woman sitting in the front passenger seat. Police say she leaned into the car swinging, missed that woman, and hit the people in the back seat instead.
When the driver stepped out to calm her down, police say Sumner pulled his hair and punched him in the face. Officers documented red marks on his neck, back, torso and arms, along with a bite mark on his right arm. A second man said Sumner bit him as he tried to get between her and his friends, and he showed officers a bite mark on his own right arm. One witness showed police a video of the incident.
Sumner also left with the driver’s iPhone. Her roommate was tracking her live location, and officers found her at a home on SE 5th Avenue with the phone among her belongings. She told police someone at Bounce slipped a phone into her pocket and that she thought it was her roommate’s. The phone’s owner said he didn’t believe she meant to steal it and declined to press charges. Sumner was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail with bond set at $1,000 per count, and she’s due in court at the South County Courthouse in November. Ms. Sumner was arrested for battery in 2024 — she entered a guilty plea and was placed on community control probation for a year, according to court records.
