BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Office of Florida State Representative Peggy Gossett-Seidman late Friday said a “credible death threat” was received against the Boca Raton-based lawmaker. Luke David Schlauder is in the Palm Beach County Jail early Saturday, charged with making a “written threat” to “kill or harm,” and use a “two way communication device to facilitate a felony.” He lists an apartment on NW 13th Street in Boca Raton as his home address. He is 25 years old.

Gosset-Seidman’s office issued this statement:

>>State Representative Peggy Gossett-Seidman (R-Highland Beach) today thanked the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the State’s Attorney Office for their swift action in arresting a suspect accused of making a credible death threat against the House District 91 representative.

The individual, Luke David Schlauder, was arrested today and charged with intimidation, written/electronic threat to kill or to do bodily harm to another person. (See Florida Statute, Chapter 836.10: Written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism; punishment; exemption from liability. A person who violates this subsection commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.)

“You hear stories from around the country of politicians and their offices being threatened, but you never think it will happen to you. These threats were shocking and vile.  I was very worried and feared for my life and safety as well as my staff. No person, regardless of their political affiliation, should fear for their life simply because they are running for, or hold, elected office. Florida is a law-and-order state, and we thank FDLE and the State Attorney for enforcing our laws and putting this guy behind bars.” <<
