DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An 18-year-old Pompano Beach man now faces a felony charge after deputies say he tore up the Kings Point golf course doing donuts in a blue BMW, then ended up in a pond. He says he was in the car but wasn’t driving.
Isaac Janieg Rojas Aguilera was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief with at least $1,000 in property damage, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. A witness told deputies he saw the BMW driving recklessly and doing donuts in the parking lot at 6561 Flanders Way, just west of the Flanders Clubhouse in unincorporated Delray Beach. The SUV then moved onto the golf course northwest of the lot, did more donuts on the grass and went into a nearby pond, the witness said. He told deputies he saw one person in the vehicle, a shirtless young man with curly black hair, who swam out and left. Deputies found circular tire tracks on the course, reviewed the witness’s cellphone video of the BMW in the parking lot and put the damage at $1,000.

When deputies found Rojas Aguilera, he was shirtless, wearing black pants and holding BMW keys. The witness identified him as the person who got out of the SUV. After being read his Miranda rights, Rojas Aguilera said he was inside the 2022 BMW X3 when it hit the water but was not driving, and that he had been wearing red Balenciaga slides at the time. A deputy inventorying the BMW found red Balenciaga slides on the driver’s-side floorboard. His mother told deputies she let him use the BMW for work on Oct. 30.
As we were first to report, the crash set off a major rescue response around 6:15 that morning. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said a person found nearby reported there may have been six people in the vehicle, sending rescue swimmers and dive teams into the pond, but no one was found in or around the nearly submerged car. PBSO said in its initial report that three passengers fled, a claim that doesn’t appear in the affidavit. Rojas Aguilera was taken to Delray Medical Center for evaluation because of his exposure to the pond water, then booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
