PLANE DOWN IN BOYNTON

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — BREAKING NEWS AT 1:38pm — Boynton Beach Police report that they are now on the scene of a plane that has crashed behind a home in the Dos Lagos community in Boynton Beach. The approximate intersection is Congress and Gateway Blvd. No word yet on type of plane or injuries.

UPDATE FROM FAA AT 2:35PM — The aircraft departed from Palm Beach County Park/Lantana Airport at about 1:15 p.m. It went down in trees behind a residence.

UPDATE FROM FAA AT 2:17PM — From FAA Spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen: “Local authorities notified the FAA of an aircraft accident this afternoon in the Dos Lagos area of Boynton Beach, Fla., involving a Grumman American AA-5 with only the pilot aboard. This is preliminary information, which may change during the investigation. We will update this statement when we get new information.”

UPDATE: 2:05pm – FAA Southeast Regional Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that the agency is responding to the scene. Presumably NTSB as well.

UPDATE: 2pm — still no television coverage. FAA is investigating. Unclear what type of plane.
