DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Despite a new corporate-wide closing time of 8 p.m. to provide time for extra cleaning and restocking, shelves at the Delray Marketplace Publix were largely bare as the store opened its doors at 6:55 a.m. Monday.

Customers notably gasped as they found empty shelves, absolutely no poultry and limited produce.

“Our truck comes Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday,” said a Publix employee. “We’re getting nothing new until tomorrow.”

Despite claims from the Trump administration that the supply chain is in tact, empty shelves suggest an alternate reality. Shoppers darted through the aisles finding whatever they could — even Cheerios and Rice Krispies were out of stock. Eggs were nowhere to be found — just a sign limiting shoppers to one dozen.

Looking for bread? Good luck.

A Publix employee said she was preparing to make a sign announcing a new Publix limit of two loaves per person. Only a few loaves were on the bread shelves. Only ten or so loaves were seen in the bakery area.

As BocaNewsNow.com reported Sunday, shoppers attempting to circumvent panic shopping in person by having food delivered are now waiting for nothing.

Whole Foods deliveries are taking at least four days — and many ordered items aren’t actually in stock. Publix, which delivers through Instacart, is quoting 4 or 5 day delivery times, but not guaranteeing item availability.
