Latest Report Indicates Significant COVID Infection Rate For Palm Beach County Children
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The Palm Beach County School District today will ask parents to consider whether they want “in person” or “distance learning” for their children. The question comes as the Florida Department of Health reports a pediatric positivity rate of 14.3-percent in Palm Beach County.
That number is exceptionally high and is NOT impacted by the Quest “data dump” reported on Monday. The pediatric positivity rate in Palm Beach County has hovered at this level for weeks.
The Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics says in-person school should not resume until the positivity rate is consistently in the range of 3 to 5 percent. Palm Beach County’s pediatric rate is among the highest in the state, with only Miami-Dade and Broward County reporting higher numbers in similarly-sized counties.
The latest Florida Department of Health report focuses on children under age 18.
