Several Systems Being Watched Between Africa and Florida
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — The Friday afternoon Tropical Weather Outlook from the National Hurricane Center shows several waves in various stages of development between Africa and Florida. The red oval indicates an 80 percent chance of system formation in that zone, the orange X suggests a 60 percent chance of formation in that zone, and the yellow X represents a 30 percent chance of formation in that specific area. The ovals are not paths.
Omar and another system remain far east of the mid-Atlantic and pose no threat to the United States Mainland.

A non-tropical area of low pressure is located over the north-central Atlantic about 500 miles south-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland. This low is moving north-northeastward toward cooler waters, and development as a subtropical or tropical cyclone is not expected. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...near 0 percent. 2. A nearly stationary broad area of low pressure is located over the east-central tropical Atlantic about midway between the west coast of Africa and the Windward Islands. This system continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms, and some development is possible during the next couple of days before it merges or interacts with a large tropical wave located to its east. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent. 3. A tropical wave and area of low pressure located just west of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
