BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A reminder to parents and guardians of students in the Palm Beach County School District. There is no school on Friday, October 15th.

There is no scandal or controversy: it’s a teacher in-service day. Buildings are open for employees but there is no school in session for students.

As the “day off” breaks up the school week, the Palm Beach County School District now reports 6,379 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The breakdown: 5,500 students have tested positive with 879 staffers testing positive.

The entire 2020-2021 school year only led to 3,855 cases — considered a big deal at the time. At the current rate, the Palm Beach County School District will likely double that entire year-long case count before the school system breaks for the holidays this year.
