BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you own a home in Palm Beach County, the tax collector wants you to check your mail. Bills were just sent today.

From the office of Anne Gannon, in a media advisory: Constitutional Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon announced today that property tax bills to Palm Beach County property owners will start to arrive in mailboxes beginning November 1. This year, more than 609,000 individual property tax bills are being sent. Property taxes collected this year, which are expected to be more than $4 billion, will fund critical public services throughout the county, including the school and healthcare districts, fire rescue services, municipal parks and libraries, among other community amenities.

“This is our busiest time of the year,” says Gannon. “I remind all clients that the fastest and most secure option to pay property tax is online atwww.pbctax.com. With the potential for slower mail delivery, I advise clients to allow up to 15 days to receive their bill. But you can view and download it at www.pbctax.com beginning November 1.”

Clients paying online can use the eCheck option free-of-charge, which requires their bank routing and account numbers. Credit and debit cards are also accepted, with a 2.4% convenience fee collected by the vendor and not retained by the Tax Collector. Wire transfers are also accepted. Clients paying by check are advised to allow up to 15 days for bank processing time, not including mail delivery time. All six Tax Collector service centers have secure payment drop boxes located in the lobby, accessible Monday-Friday during business hours of 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Payments must be sealed in the envelope and cash is not accepted.

“There are several money-saving discounts for early payers,” says Gannon. “The biggest discount, 4%, is available to clients who pay in November, and the discount decreases by 1% each month through February. There is no discount available in March.”

Tax Collector Gannon reminds all clients that failure to receive a bill due to lost or delayed mail, does not excuse the property owner from their obligation to pay the tax, as per Florida Statutes 197.122. Taxes not paid by March 31, 2022 will become delinquent effective April 1, 2022.

Applications for the Installment Payment Plan (IPP) for 2022 taxes are also available now, through April 30. IPP enrollment for 2021 taxes closed in April of this year. IPP is a budget friendly plan for paying your property taxes through four, predictable payments throughout the year with a cumulative discount of just under 4%.

Palm Beach County residents are encouraged to visit the Tax Collector’s website at www.pbctax.comfor additional information regarding property taxes.
