UPDATE: 11:28 PM — All lanes reported open.

UPDATE: 9:49 PM — FDOT says the Turnpike is still closed, although traffic cams suggest traffic is starting to flow.

UPDATE: 8:10 PM — The fire is still NOT under control.

UPDATE: 7:59 PM — Southbound traffic may be moving but if it is, it is moving extremely slowly. We advise you to stay away from this scene in either direction.

UPDATE: 7:51 PM — Florida Highway Patrol is being told to “expedite” the scene to control traffic. Firefighters are reportedly frustrated that FHP has been slow to respond to what appears to be growing into a major event.

UPDATE: 7:49 PM — The fire is so intense, and firefighters are using so much water, that “tender” trucks are being called to the scene to transport additional water for firefighting.

UPDATE: 7:48 PM — Additional FHP units have been called to the scene due to intense smoke blanketing all lanes near the fire.

The FDOT camera image, above, shows heavy smoke rising from the tractor-trailer which is reportedly fully engulfed. No injuries are reported at this time, although rescuers are just arriving on the scene according to sources reporting to BocaNewsNow.com

Expect significant traffic delays in the area as firefighters battle the blaze. Two people in the truck’s cab are out of the truck and apparently fine. Specifics of the crash and fire not immediately known.
