All American Airlines Flights Grounded Through Late Afternoon

Update 5p: American tells BocaNewsNow.com that the computer system has been restored but delays may continue for several hours.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — If you are expecting someone later today to arrive into the area via American Airlines — or if you are flying out yourself, stop rushing. American Airlines has grounded all flights until at least 5pm ET due to a massive computer problem.

American services Palm Beach International, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, and Miami International Airports.

There is no connection being made by the airline to terrorist activity despite high tensions following yesterday's Boston Marathon bombing. While security has been heightened at many of the nation's airport, American states that this is the result of a computer problem. It is unclear if fights already in the air are being permitted to continue flight, or if they are being ordered to land.
