DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A lawsuit just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court alleges that Delray Medical Center provided such horrific care to a patient that her skin deteriorated, she suffered the “effects of a stroke,” and eventually died. When attorneys sought information about the care provided, Delray Medical Center allegedly withheld the information in violation of Florida statute.

Gloria Stepanek, according to the suit, was a patient at Delray Medical Center between January 4th, 2021 and January 6th, 2021, and then readmitted between January 10th and January 16th. The suit, filed on behalf of her estate, alleges that Delray Medical Center employees and medical professionals:

“Failed to initiate appropriate interventions to prevent skin breakdowns; failed to provide timely and appropriate wound care; failed to appropriately monitor the patient; failed to follow doctors orders regarding the prevention of skin breakdown; failed to timely notify appropriate physicians when skin breakdowns developed,” and more.

As a result of the alleged incompetence, “Gloria Stepanek suffered damages including the development of skin breakdown; the effects of stroke; loss of dignity; humiliation; bodily injury; pain and suffering; disability; physical impairment; disfigurement; mental anguish; inconvenience; loss of capacity to enjoy life; discomfort; aggravation of existing diseases or physical defect; and medical, hospital and nursing expenses.” She died on April 14th, 2021.

The lawsuit seeks in excess of the $30,000 statutory minimum.

Ms. Stepanek’s estate is represented by Attorney Michael Rotundo at Ford, Dean and Rotundo in North Miami Beach. Delray Medical Center had not filed documents relating to the suit as of the afternoon of Thursday, April 14th, 2022.
