BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man labeled as “suspicious” was taken into custody south of Boca Raton after he was seen with a gun, and then allegedly opened fire on deputies.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office reports this Friday morning:

“At approximately 10:06 p.m., Thursday, April 14, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a suspicious person call near the area of 1 North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach. When deputies arrived on scene, an unknown subject armed with a weapon opened fire on the responding units.

According to investigators, deputies did not return fire and the shooter was taken into custody without incident. No deputies were injured during the incident. The subject was transported to an area hospital for treatment unrelated to the shooting. The investigation continues.”

The man was not immediately identified.
