BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Public school teachers in Palm Beach County are set to receive a raise — and a bonus. School District officials Wednesday night confirmed that the School Board authorized the more than three percent raise — which is retroactive to July 1st, 2021. Teachers will also receive a one-time $1500 bonus.
This is the official announcement:
The School District of Palm Beach County reached an agreement with the Palm Beach County Classroom Teachers Association (CTA). The agreement, which received School Board approval on April 20, will be finalized once approved by CTA membership.
This agreement covers the 2021-2022 school year and will provide a blended base salary increase of 3.5% for the current school year, and is retroactive to July 1, 2021.
The parties also agreed to provide teachers with a $1,500 one-time bonus. Additionally, all teachers will be provided with up to three days of bereavement leave.
The total compensation package provided represents an increase of approximately 6%, which significantly exceeds what the State provided for teacher salary increases. Following ratification of the agreement, teachers will receive retroactive payments for the salary increase and bonus this June.
This settlement is a well-deserved win for our teachers, CTA, and the District. We feel this is the best teacher settlement in Florida for the current school year. We recognize the extraordinary efforts of our teachers and hope this helps to attract additional educators to Palm Beach County Schools.
