BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Good luck if you’re traveling this holiday weekend out of Fort Lauderdale. JetBlue has already delayed 38 flights operating in and out of the airport Friday, with Spirit delaying 24. The statistics, provided by FlightAware.com, show that Southwest delayed 20, United 11, American 7, and Delta 6. There are a total of 74 delayed flights leaving Fort Lauderdale on Friday.
Cancellations are also mounting, with Delta canceling three flights from FLL on Friday, American canceling two flights, and JetBlue chopping one.
At Miami International, 64 American Flights are delayed with 12 cancelations, six Delta flights are delayed with four cancelations, and nine United flights are delayed with one cancelation.
And at Palm Beach International as of mid-afternoon Friday, 12 JetBlue flights are delayed with one canceled, 12 Delta flights are delayed, 10 American Airlines flights are delayed, and two United flights are delayed.
The situation is expected to deteriorate over the weekend. Delta Airlines announced mid-morning Friday that passengers could change flights at no charge over the next several days. The policy switch seems to be an effort to reduce the number of people flying. All airlines are facing massive staffing shortages when leads to deals and cancelations.
