BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 54 year old Wellington man was killed early Sunday in a one-car crash on I-95 in Boynton Beach.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators issued the following report, which we have edited slightly for clarity.

The vehicle involved was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 (State Road 9), just north of State Road 804 (Boynton Beach Boulevard), in the outside center lane. As the vehicle was traveling south, for unknown reasons, the driver of the vehicle lost control and the vehicle began to travel off the roadway towards the right onto the outside shoulder. As a result, the front of the vehicle collided with the guardrail. The vehicle then continued traveling south where it began to rotate counterclockwise. The vehicle then traveled onto the right grass shoulder where it overturned causing the driver’s side of the vehicle to collide with a traffic sign support pole. The vehicle came to final rest on its roof with the driver’s side pinned against the traffic sign support pole. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene.

The male, whose name has not been released, is listed as 52-years-old. The type of vehicle was not immediately released. The crash occurred around 5:10 a.m. Sunday.
