Roger Hoit Allegedly Operating Golf Cart That Struck Animal In East Delay Beach.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2022 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man identified in social media profiles as being an investment banker is facing a DUI charge after he allegedly hit a dog while driving his golf cart.
Roger Hoit of the 1000 block of Seaspray Avenue in East Delray Beach was allegedly driving a black 2021 Alpine six-person golf cart in the area of 417 Palm Trail, just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday. A man told Delray Beach Police that Hoit struck his dog while his dog was relieving itself.
Responding officers noted that the alleged golf cart operator, Roger Hoit, emanated an odor “of an unknown alcoholic beverage. Hoit’s eyes were red and had a glass appearance. Hoit swayed in a circular motion while standing still. Hoit’s speech was slurred think. Hoit stumbled while walking.”
Officers noted that a clear plastic cup containing brown liquid was sitting in the front cup holder of the golf cart.
They also documented that Hoit told them he had started to consume his “cocktail drink three hours prior to the incident and finished his cocktail drink two hours prior to the incident. Hoit was unaware (of) what time it was currently. Hoit denied hitting a dog and claimed the dog owner jumped out in front of him yelling.”
Roger Hoit’s license, according to police, was suspended at the time of the incident, although BocaNewsNow.com sees no record of a license suspension in public databases. He was charged with “driving under the influence” and “operating a vehicle while license is suspended or revoked.” Hoit was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on his own recognizance.
