BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Florida Department of Transportation is again set to close part of I-95 in Boca Raton. The closure will affect all southbound lanes.

The good news: if you only drive during daylight hours, the closure is unlikely to affect your commute. The bad news: if you drive overnight, if you are picking up someone at PBI and heading back to Boca in the evening, or would like to go south in the area of Congress Avenue, you will not be able to do so. The closure — set for Thursday night — is a completely southbound closure in the area of Congress Avenue. It will will require all traffic to exit I-95 and detour. This is the official announcement from FDOT:

“All I-95 southbound lanes at Congress Avenue will be closed to traffic overnight, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9 for overhead sign structure installation. The first lane will close at 9 p.m., the second lane will close at 10 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11 p.m., reopening by 5 a.m.Traffic will be detoured via the I-95 southbound exit ramp to Congress Avenue, Congress Avenue and SR-794/Yamato Road. FHP will be onsite to assist motorists.”

Even though the Diverging Diamond at Glades Road and I-95 is now open, massive I-95 expansion and improvement work continues. Expect closures in and around Boca Raton to continue for quite some time.
