BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton man died Sunday when he crashed his 2003 Mazda Protege in the area of Congress Avenue off-ramp from I-95.
Florida Highway Patrol issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com early Monday:
The driver of the Mazda Protege was traveling southbound on outside lane of the Interstate 95 (State Road 9) exit ramp to State Road 807 (Congress Avenue). As the Protege was traveling south, the driver possibly suffered a medical episode. The Mazda Protege then traveled across the westbound and eastbound travel lanes of State Road 807, where the front of the Mazda collided with the concrete barrier wall on the eastbound lanes of travel.
After the collision, the vehicle ricocheted off the wall and came to final rest in the Interstate 95 (State Road 9) southbound entrance lane, facing a northwesterly direction. The driver was transported to Delray Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 11:25 AM.
The investigation continues.
