BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A reminder: Glades Road will be completely closed this weekend in the area of I-95. No one will be permitted to pass I-95 on Glades Road in either direction. The Glades Road ramps to and from I-95 will also be closed. The closure starts around 10 p.m. Friday and should be clear around 5 a.m. Monday.
In theory, the Florida Department of Transportation is set to finish the Diverging Diamond. If successful, this should be the last major closure for the project that has continued for years. While sporadic I-95 closures and detours will continue for other work, the overpass at I-95 should be done. That means no more cones, barriers, or barricades.
The work is being completed a few weeks ahead of schedule. Weather is expected to be good so it seems unlikely that a weather event will lead to a delay.
For those complaining about the Diverging Diamond, FDOT suggests withholding judgment until the work is truly complete. The new system is supposed to make entering, exiting, and crossing I-95 a faster, safer experience.
