BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The massive closure of Glades Road at I-95 set for this weekend will not happen. Despite weeks of announcements and preparations, the Florida Department of Transportation now says that Glades Road and I-95 will both remain open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The full closure of Glades Road was to permit FDOT workers to complete the still incomplete Diverging Diamond. Instead, the work will be pushed to the following weekend — March 31 through April 3rd.
It was not immediately clear what led to the new delay. The City of Boca Raton told BocaNewsNow.com that FDOT was citing “unforeseen circumstances.”
Once it does take place, Glades Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday, making it impossible to pass I-95. All ramps — on and off — to and from I-95 at Glades Road will also be closed.
