Reader Asks: “Why Is This Dog In A Supermarket?”

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Add Winn-Dixie to the list of stores where South Palm Beach County shoppers think human shoppers need to shop on their own — without their pets.
Our tipster saw the woman with a dog in the Winn-Dixie at Delmar Shopping Center in Boca Raton (7030 Beracasa Way) on Easter Sunday, and asked the question many of us ask — why? Why is a dog in a food store?
To the dog’s credit, he or she clearly knew where the dog toys were located. But we do not believe that Winn-Dixie ever expected dogs to come into the store to self-shop. It seems most of the merch is set at person-level, not dog level. There is no indication that the dog is a trained service dog. Our tipster did not believe that Winn-Dixie employees tried to keep the dog away from aisles where fresh food is out in the open.
