BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The accidental push of a teacher’s panic button led to an emergency lockdown and police response at Boca Raton High School Friday morning. No one was injured.

The Palm Beach County School District confirms to BocaNewsNow.com that a teacher apparently sat on the button unintentionally. That led to an emergency police response and lockdown of the school, with students believing an active shooter was on property.

“Students were crying, throwing up, and calling their parents to say goodbye,” said one person who claims to have experienced the situation first-hand.

The situation was resolved within five minutes, but once the police are called, they have to do what they are trained to do.

“The response is the same,” said a school district official. “If it’s hit inadvertently, the response is the same. We can’t take any chances.”
