PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man sitting in the front passenger seat of a 2016 Red Nissan Murano reached for the steering wheel — pulled it to the right — then flipped the car.

The man then exited the overturned vehicle and ran on the Turnpike where he was struck by a Tractor Trailer. Incredibly, the man was not killed but was eventually rushed to Saint Mary’s Medical Center with life-threatening injures.

Florida Highway Patrol says the 56-year-old man was attempting to kill himself. HIs 55-year-old wife was driving the vehicle that he attempted to commandeer, his daughters — ages 23 and 15 — were in the back seat. No one other than the man sustained life threatening injuries.

The incident occurred around 9:14 this morning in the southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike in the area of mile marker 105 which is West Palm Beach. The road was reopened around 11 a.m., but FHP remains on scene investigating.
