BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 20-year-old Boca Raton woman is facing a felony charge of Robbery With A Weapon following her arrest by Boca Raton Police, working with cops in Palm Beach Gardens where the alleged incident occurred.

According to an arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Lauren Koenig of Mohigan Circle in Boca Raton shoplifted a number of items from a Winn-Dixie in Palm Beach Gardens, then became combative when questioned by a store employee. When Koenig left the store — in front of the employee who questioned her — Koenig allegedly reached for pepper spray, activated the canister, and sprayed the Winn-Dixie worker. That worker was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Police, allegedly familiar with Koenig, used a criminal information computer system to identify both Koenig and the vehicle in which she fled — a white Subaru Crosstrek with a missing hubcap and a broken front grille. The vehicle — and Koenig — were connected to an address in Boca Raton. It was later revealed that Koenig allegedly stole Mucinex, a probiotic, and acid reducer.

A warrant was issued and Boca Raton Police booked Koenig into the Palm Beach County Jail early Friday morning. She was released on $50,000 bond later in the day. A court date is pending.
