BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The dog problem continues in area supermarkets and restaurants as the FDA reminds dog owners that it’s illegal to bring an untrained service animal into a supermarket or restaurant. In the latest example of dog owners gone bonkers, a woman apparently brought her dog to the Publix at Hillsboro Blvd. and Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach where it promptly left a gift in the deli department.

Publix, which has large signs reminding shoppers that untrained dogs are illegal, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Food and Drug Administration says it is illegal for untrained dogs to be in supermarkets or restaurants — the exception of restaurant patios. The State of Florida says it is illegal to lie about your dog’s service-training status.

Readers send scores of photos a week of rude, ignorant shoppers who believe it’s okay to bring a dog in a store so “it doesn’t stay in a hot car,” when the obvious answer is that the dog should just stay home.

A Psychologist tells BocaNewsNow.com that people who bring their personal pets into supermarkets and restaurants are clearly “seeking attention” and “unable to grasp that their behavior is inappropriate.”
